5 Simple Poses to Get Started with Modeling

It’s time to throw away the misconception that looking good is enough for Singapore model to succeed. There is definitely a need to be equipped with the proper techniques to flaunting your body as well. Mastering various different poses is necessary in order to stand out from the crowd. If you are an aspiring model or see yourself in modeling in the future, then get up from your seat, go to a mirror and practice these poses!

Try a Good Portrait Photograph

Usually, hands are not used in portraits, but if used well can create a very seductive appeal. Don’t grab your neck or face with your hands. Touch your cheeks and lips lightly with your finger tips and open your mouth slightly. This provides a subtle attractive appeal to your portrait photo.

Simple and Elegant

Turn your body slightly to the side with the hands in your back pocket. If you find that uncomfortable you can simply place your hands on your hips.

Sensual Pose

Put your hands above your head and make the S shape with your body showing off your curves.

Full Height and Body Pose

This is a simple yet powerful pose quintessential for female models. Body curved in an S shape, with one hand on one hip and the other hand stretched out straight, leaning the weight on the side where the hand is on the hip. Let the hair loose and flow down on the leaning side, this will add beauty to the pose.

Use a Wall

Simply rest your upper back against a wall, with one leg on the ground and the other on the wall in a relaxed posed. You may choose to use the wall to put your hand and legs with your creativity.

Looking good in person alone doesn’t make someone a model. To be part of the Singapore model a photogenic and camera friendly look is necessary. This can be trained and cultivated by mastering the modeling poses and runway walking. With enough hard work, you may become a model too!

Master the following tips we are about to provide you, because these come from the experiences we have had with our own male models, and it will surely help you to develop yourself as a model.

Find your Style

Some men prefer the casual, messy hair look, whereas others go for the sleek and professional suit-tuxedo look. You have to find out what fits you the best and let the agency you join know your style preferences.

Train Harder than the Next Guy

No pain no gain. Building up your physical fitness and being confident in your body is a must for male models. One pro tip is to have a music player loaded with fast and energetic songs. To train hard by pushing yourself at the gym is important, but remember to mix up your training routine with different types of exercises like swimming, running, other kinds of sports, yoga and a variety of others. For male models, it’s more important to have a lean and well-toned body than a muscular and bulky body.

Get your Diet Right
You have to complement your training with the right foods. Lean meats, green vegetables, fruit, nuts, and seeds are perfect for before and after workouts. Remove processed foods and foods that high in salt, sodium, and sugar from your diet. If you want your skin looking clear, then your food has to be clean too.

Choose the Right Agency
You have to get into an agency that grooms male models and is established successfully with a good client base. An experienced agency will know how to pair you with the right kind of projects that guides your progress in the industry. You must also like the people you are working with. Once you sign up with an agency, the people from the front desk to the backstage crew will be interacting and working with you. You must be familiar and socialize well with their staff.

Christmas Exclusive: The Elegant Hands of Han S and Bonnie Y Light up FairPrice’s Christmas Catalog

It’s Christmas time again and we are extremely delighted that our models Bonnie Y and Han S are featured in FairPrice’s ‘Finest Christmas Catalog’ Hand Shoot. Bonnie and Han’s beautiful and supple hands have been featured in a few print advertisements throughout the catalog. So what is hand modeling? What are the behind-the-scenes efforts that our models went through?

Clients first choose the model through a casting call where they assess whether the model has camera-friendly elegant hands. They look out for features like the shape of nails, birthmarks, freckles, clean nails, wrist size, thumb size, and knuckle size. These are important aspects of a hand because the hand should not interfere with the product being advertised. For example, in female hands, they look for a small wrist, plain clean nails, and depending on the type of product the length of fingers too. For luxury products usually longer nails with striking polish may be preferred to add glamour, whereas for regular household products regular or short fingers which doesn’t attract too much attention is preferred.

Patience and endurance are crucial and is demanded in hand modeling shoots. One of the hardest shots seen is the champagne advertisement. Firstly the time of the day is important and the amount of light you want only comes at a certain afternoon/evening time of the day. You have just a few hours of that time to take a good shot. You can also see how precise and intricately placed the objects are in the setup. The pink foam seen also subsides after some time, so after pouring the champagne, the shot must be taken fast.

The ‘clinking glasses’ effect which is ritually performed when people drinking with each together say ‘cheers’ is also seen. This means that one glass must be held in a tilted angle towards the other glass. Don’t forget the champagne is being poured at the same time, so you should be getting the rough idea of how hard it was to execute this shot, feels our model Bonnie Y.

If you still think, it’s just showing hand it’s very easy work, then think again, because something as small as a minor cut on your hand can mean you losing your job. More than keeping your hand free of cuts or blemishes you have to maintain it properly too. Using moisturizers and gloves a few days before the shoot is a must.

Take it from the male model Han S himself who says during his testimonial interview, “When you see a poster with the hands in it, it looks very simple but actually behind the scenes it’s a lot of work to be done. Like they have to arrange the tables, adjust the lighting, you know the position, here and there and we have to, basically, we have to do manicure and pedicure for the actual shoot. We have to apply moisturizer on our hands all these. So certain angles have to be very cautious. So behind the scenes actually lots of work to put in.”

The catalog from FairPrice includes many of FairPrice’s products and specials for Christmas. Do browse through the catalog while checking out our hand models. You will definitely see some items you will need for Christmas at the same time!

Winter Beauty Tips for Singapore Models

Singapore models who are traveling in winter conditions will especially be more vulnerable to the harsh cold weather conditions that can dry out and affect the skin, hair, and overall beauty. Here are some suggestions on how you can winter-proof your beauty.

‘This is the season to be jolly! The winter season is here and you may be traveling around the world for these holidays. Even while Singapore’s weather is nothing like the winter conditions of Europe, it’s nonetheless getting colder even here in Singapore with the rainy season upon us.

Drying of Skin

The main issue with cold weather conditions is the drying out of your skin easily. This can lead to multiple problems of drying around your body. Notice sensitive areas such as your elbows, hands, facial skin, eyes, lips and heels of your feet for signs of cracking, flakiness and chapping. You have to take action in this case, and it’s also better to avoid the occurrence. Carry around with you, oil based moisturizers rather than water-based to enable stronger moisture retention. Apply it on the dry and sensitive areas of your body every day. If you are going out for more than half hour a day, and expect to be under the sun or exposed to the wind on your face or body, use a moisturizer, balm or cream with an SPF value of higher than 30.

Hair Care

Frizzy hair can get worse in cold weather conditions with the buildup of negative ions. Flakiness, itchiness dandruff can happen as a result of this.  Treating your hair right is crucial to protect from the frosty weather. You can try using a mild shampoo anti-dandruff shampoo and use a conditioner to balance the ph levels of your hair. Use a comfortable brush to lightly brush your hair every day to be careful not to injure the scalp.

Reddening of Skin

Cold weather can dilate and constrict blood vessels in different parts of your body, that’s why you may observe that some people may have reddening in their nose, eyes or cheeks during cold weathers. If the reddening is bad, get yourself indoors and heat up before you have to go outdoors again. Using a warm compress on the reddish areas will speed up the clearing of reddening.

Keep the Basics in Check

There a few basic pointers you need to jot down Singapore models. Drink plenty of clean water for keeping the natural moisture in your body. If you know you are visiting someplace cold, get good cashmere or thick fabric that comforts your body. Boots, gloves, leather jackets and anything else that can provide you style and comfort is good for your trip. On top of that, when showering or washing your face use lukewarm water instead of hot water even though it may feel good. Hot water can dehydrate your skin more than usual.

Singapore models, hope you are well informed of how to maintain your beauty this winter. Have a jolly good time these holidays, because now you can enjoy the cold weather with complete protection!

What to Expect at a Model Casting?

From Victoria’s Secrets models to the models you see at your local promotions event, everyone has to go this process of casting and convince a row of judges that their worth being hired for their modeling jobs. So what do you expect at a model casting, and how do you perform up to par against your competition?

Prepare to wait
Model castings are done only on certain timings and there are many people eyeing for the same modeling jobs. So interviews become a long process and will definitely test your patience. So be prepared and alert too, as in case if you don’t give a response when your name is being called, the next person on the list immediately gets the go.

Go in to meet the client
You will be directed to meet the client in a particular room. They will first ask for your comp card and your portfolio. After that, they may choose to ask you a few questions about your experiences and your background. Most clients will then ask you to do some runway walking and poses. This is your chance to impress the clients, so focus and do it slowly. After which they might comment on you or ask you to leave.

How to prepare for Casting
Casting like any audition process, preparation will determine whether you get the opportunity or not. You might ask what a comp card and portfolio is? They are the most important documents that you must possess as a model. A comp card, short for composite card arranges your key features in an A5 sized card and includes information such as height, weight, and various key body sizes. It’s almost akin to an identity card and tells the client what they need to know about you in a concise manner.

The ‘portfolio’ on the other hand, is an extension of your comp card but includes a large variety of shots. It will typically include your past projects, test shoots, and maybe even URLs to videos or online websites/ platforms with your work, if there are any. The portfolio is usually created for you by a modeling agency, if you had gotten a client that way. You can alternatively create the comp card and portfolio yourself but you have to do proper research and get it done with adherence to industry standards.

What to wear
The golden rule of casting is to always wear simple and be simple. It is at times hard to determine what exactly the client wants. If you are wearing a complex outfit what you are wearing may contradict the client’s expectations. Never wear fancy patterned clothing, jewelry, accessories, or excessive makeup that affects your original style and look. Clients want to know your natural look for them to mold you into the type of model they are expecting for in the project. At the most, some foundation and mascara with simple patterned and colored outfit should be worn.

Confidence
Sometimes clients may ask questions that have no relevance to modeling. For example, they may ask your favorite hobbies. What’s important here is not your answer, but your level of confidence. It doesn’t matter what you say but are you saying it with confidence? It doesn’t matter if you don’t execute your pose or walk the runway perfectly, but are you doing it with confidence? Technique matters just as much as personality and that is what will convince them that you are the face for their modeling jobs.

Casting is a fairly simple process, yet not easy to conquer. But you can prepare through practice. Stand in a front of a mirror and practice your walks and poses. Maintain your health and beauty in the week that leads up to your casting call. With preparation comes confidence, any casting call would be a breeze.

2016 in Review: What are the Recent Highlight Projects of Create Talents?

The end of the year is here! You know what that means; don’t you? It is now the season of joy, giving, and reflection. We want to recap you with some of our best projects over the course of 2016. We delight in all the projects that Create Talents and Models has successfully accomplished over the year and so that all of us who are part of this great agency may head into the New Year with a greater sense of passion, pride, and style.

Orchard Gateway Bridal Fashion Show

Early in the year, from March to June 2016, stunning Bridal Fashion show took place at Orchard Gateway which left the audience (especially women awaiting their big day) at awe. It was held over a course of 7 series and our models Ula L, Nazli G, Randi B and Kirsten P had to pose for photo shoots and perform runway modeling with their magnificent gowns. Trust us, it was tough to get all of them dressed and ready to model with perfection, nevertheless our female models didn’t disappoint and had put on their A game. Bridal modeling has its challenges, yet it always turns out to be exciting and a treat for the eyes.

HPB Shoot

The Health Promotion Board print advertisement is one of our cherished Government sector projects which featured male model Zali B. It was an F.I.G.H.T campaign which was meant to educate the public on the ways to protect against Flu and other infectious diseases. The advertisement had become very popularly spread island wide.  We were certainly excited to see Zali all over the nation on posters on buses, taxis, and billboards.

Front Row Runway Festival at The Shoppes at MBS

A prestigious event which featured our Create Talents Model, RK10 K, is the ‘Front Row’ Runway Festival held at Marina Bay Sands. It was a celebration of fashion weeks from the four fashion capitals around the world Milan, Paris, London and New York. RK10K represented Uomo Collezioni’s Canali brand and strode the runway with a day and nightwear suit. The event had featured an array of grand designer brands such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Burberry, Coach, and Versace, amongst which was the equally prestigious Canali. RK10K was an absolute dapper and made a strong statement about the Canali brand which is re-launching in Singapore.

Asian Tour

A whopping ten of our kid models took part in this single project which was meant to advertise the Asian Tour. The Asian Tour, in a nutshell, stages multiple tournaments throughout Asia and aims to develop professional golf throughout Asia. The kid models involved were Carmen G, Charlie T, Esther P, Jayden-G, Kenji P, Matt Jaemond, Maurice H, Shawn P, Rahul, and Rishab. It is our pleasure to see such young, bright talents excelling in the modeling field, and finding confidence in their own body and skin. Kudos to the young lads, and we hope to work more with our kid models who are full of life.

Jetstar Asia
The first project by Jetstar Asia entitled #FridayFREEFlights was a fun and quirky project in which our models Angela P and Han S had to model for basically our generation’s favorite past time- ‘taking selfies’. A short video was released on every Tuesday of the month of October, where the public could take part through following the theme and instructions given for the week as exemplified through our models and upload their selfie on respective Fridays on any social media account. The four creative themes were ‘Lovey Dovey Passport Selfie’, ‘Goofy Passport Selfie’, ‘Photobomb Passport Selfie’ and ‘Face Swap Passport Selfie’.

The second was a print advertisement featuring out model Candy N being part of a group selfie advertising Jetstar. We are on the whole, honored to have worked with one of Singapore’s aviation giants, and we look forward to collaborating on more future projects.

Mediacorp

Mediacorp has always been our prestigious client where many talents from our agency get the opportunity to cast and act. This year, we did a heartwarming Father’s day TV commercial project which featured 6 of our models, Jan D, Ali Khan, Teck Lee, Alexa P, Viran D, and Mukesh K. The advertisement tugged at the heart strings and made everyone think about the love and importance of fathers. It was broadcasted on Mediacorp Channel 5 together with the hashtag #CelebratingFathersSG which sparked meaningful conversation on social media.

Another Mediacorp Channel 5 project we concluded successfully this year was the ‘Cash Struck’ video shoot with our senior model, Moey Y. This was a spoof of the PPAP (Pen pineapple Apple Pen) song which went viral online. We thank Mediacorp for the opportunity to allow Create Talents for giving our models the experience to be part of a significant mainstream media channel in Singapore.

That’s not all! We also had some awesome Print Advertisements to add to the souvenir collection.

Other than the Jetstar Asia and HPB print advertisements shoots we also had our models featuring for other companies. They include Keks K for POSB, Nia S for Bata, Shayan K for M1 & C3A 2016 Shoot, Joshua N and Ryan C for Mount Faber Peak, Anneliese W for AIA group photoshoot, Han S & Bonnie Y for FairPrice Shoot, and Jane J for P&G (Procter & Gamble) print advertisements.

In a Nutshell

Create Talents and Models has come far over the course of the year and worked for plenty of clients apart from those listed above. Some of which are, SG Secure, Singtel, Starhub, Samsung, IDA, Skin Inc, Bata, Maggi, Chandon, Dutch Lady & Disney, Klook, Guinness, Golden Scissors Awards events and many projects.

None of these successes would be possible without the people hard at work behind the scenes. The scouters work hard, rain or shine, to search and recruit promising new talents; our bookers diligently source for good job opportunities for our models, our customer service front line patiently deals with large numbers of clients and models every single day, and our photographers do an excellent job at getting the best quality of visuals possible. Thank you to everyone who has made this agency kicking and running. This is only the beginning of many more successes to come in a brand new year. 2017, here we come!
