What Kind of Personality Traits do you need for Modeling?

Impress modeling agencies Singapore with more than just your looks and find out what are the personality traits you need.

Modeling is just like any other career that requires a professional attitude and personality for you to achieve in, and it’s not as the common assumption goes, about having good looks or tall height. Your abilities to carry yourself in front of the camera, your personality, characteristics and attitude have drastic influences on your overall success as a Singapore model.

 1.    Flexibility – Adaptability - Cooperation
Modeling being a fast-paced industry is quickly subject to changes in workplace conditions. You may get important job offers amidst your work or school which you would have to fit in your schedule. Of course, you can reject or accept any job offer, but that there is where your flexibility in the schedule comes. Modeling work can also pose last minute changes to the project requirements, for example, there may be long hours on one day, and shorter than expected hours on another, depending on how well a shoot progresses. As a model, you would have to adapt to such conditions with the least complaints.

What often comes with adaptability is resilience and strength of character, so as a model it is necessary to be strong-willed, and cooperates with your modeling agencies Singapore to ensure the entire project is completed as smoothly as possible.

2.    Strong Mind – Accepting of Criticism
We aren’t going to lie and say that you will sail through smoothly throughout your entire career as a model. No matter how good you look or carry yourself as a model, there are bound to be errors and lapses in performance from time to time. The casting and modeling directors because of time constraint and competition may go a little harsh on their criticism so that you may perform up to their expectations. As a success-oriented model, you should accept these criticisms and improve your performance or poses. It may be a tough journey no one would deny, but it will also be worthwhile.

3.    Punctuality and Patience
Lateness is a sign of disrespect in modeling and can affect your chances as there are many just like you competing for the same opportunity. Always be punctual. After you’ve arrived at your casting call or project venue there will always be busy preparations and you might need to wait your turn. Your patience becomes a virtue and will aid you in this field. On a bigger scale, modeling jobs are also offered on an irregular basis. You need to be patient in receiving job opportunities, and of course, once you start gaining more experiences, your job offers will unsurprisingly start increasing as well.

Conclusion

Although many models appear emotionless on their photos a good deal of optimism is required for models to wake up to come to work. Modeling agencies Singapore love models that bring a positive attitude to work and have the right personality to work with. You will over time see yourself getting better opportunities as well.

Our models Han S and Angela P truly soar like airplanes by starring in Jetstar’s #FridayFreeFlights Contest Campaign

In the month of October, Jetstar Asia held a selfie taking contest entitled,
#FridayFREEFlights. Every Tuesday a theme was disclosed and participants have to send in their selfies which fit the theme accordingly on Fridays on stated timings. Our models Han S and Angela P starred in the commercials that revealed these themes and played a crucial role in advertising the contest and drawing responses from the public.

Why were Han S and Angela P chosen?

The four themes were ‘Lovey Dovey Passport Selfie’, ‘Goofy Passport Selfie’, ‘Photobomb Passport Selfie’ and ‘Face Swap Passport Selfie’. These are all, as they sound, very casual light-hearted themes.

The photos can be easily taken with simple poses and utilizing any normal Smartphone. Check out the first video with the theme of ‘Lovey Dovey Passport Selfie’ and the other context videos on Youtube channel, and you would understand why yourself!

Models Han S and Angela P had looks that represented the common Singaporean and their looks suited these themes very well. They resonated well to the public and draw responses from them easily. They were thus effective in the marketing campaign.

Where would you rather be?

Participants of the contest simply needed to upload their passport selfies with the corresponding theme (as our models performed in the ad) to any of their social media platform. A caption on where you would rather be had to be included, for example the winner of round 3 (Jetstar Asia) had appended the caption, “I’d rather be at Disneyland Hong Kong watching the Festival of the Lion King than singing the circle of life and playing pretend at home with the person behind, after that still must pack!” And of course tagged with the hashtag, #FridayFREEFlights

It was overall a joyful project for those who participated and won in the contest. It was a reason for friends to come together and take silly photos that will over time serve as sweet memories for them.

Create Talents and Models is proud to see its models being involved with a major client in the Singapore Aviation industry, and to have had been involved in such a light hearted and joyful campaign like #FridayFREEFlights. Thank you to Jetstar Asia for this opportunity, and we propose toast to more successful projects together.

How to make a great first Impression with a Modeling Agency?

Excelling in the modern modeling industry without the aid of a well-established Singapore modeling agency is a task akin to climbing a mountain alone. Getting into a good model agency is essential and an agency which sees potential in you will be acquiring top notch jobs for you as well, but impressing an agency also seems like a daunting task. But do not fret, as we will list you some insider tips on how to make a perfect first impression that lasts.

Submit quality photographs
This would one of the first few things you would be submitting to the agency alongside your resume and cover letter. Now your instinct or first thought would tell you to go borrow your friend’s makeup and dress, and take as many glamour shots as possible. Quite to the contrary, that is actually a very wrong move.

Why? It’s because any Singapore modeling agency, like Create Talents and Models would be looking for a humble blank canvass they can weave to fit into modeling, rather someone who appears to be strongly inclined to a particular style of modeling and may pass off as arrogant. The agency would want to see what kinds of styles they can pull off with your look and how versatile you are. With their experienced staff, they will be able to visualize you with the makeup and clothes they want. Hence, your photographs should be very simple, with simple colored clothing and very minimal makeup (Some foundation and mascara at the most).

What you should work on is showing off your body with different poses. Using a regular Smartphone camera (You are a model who wants to make money; you are not expected to take professional studio quality shots on your own yet), try various poses and at various camera angles (Top-down, Bottom-up, side etcetera). Have at least one full body, half body, and face shot. The background of the photo should also be simple (A white wall would work best), and should not interfere with your natural look.

Ace your interview
The same philosophy of simplicity can be applied to your interview as well. Your most important accessory is your confidence. Minimal makeup and solid colored clothing is the best outfit to wear to the interview. Neat, thick and luscious hair helps; you definitely want to avoid frizz, so use a small amount of pomade to keep the stubborn ends in check. Smile whenever possible, and be confident during your interview. Show your passion for modeling by naming some of the models you look up to, and some of the poses you have learned on your own. That alone should suffice for the agency to choose you. Ultimately they are not looking for a finished package, but rather someone with the potential for development.

Upkeep your health and beauty towards your interview date
Be very mindful of what you eat, your sleep hours and general health and wellbeing. Good tips from models would be to moisturize your skin, condition your hair and wash your face regularly (2 to 3 times a day is adequate, over washing isn’t good as well). Avoid fast food and alcohol, and drink plenty of water (8 glasses minimum). Of course, the duration you should maintain this lifestyle is for as long as possible and time taken to see effects vary among people, but you should lead this lifestyle at least a week before your interview if you want to make a good impression.

In general, go organic with your food and beauty products. The natural products will give your skin a natural glow that is what a Singapore modeling agency is seeking for, anyone can wear makeup, but a model should strive to go an extra mile above a common person in terms of maintaining one’s natural looks.

Conclusion

Just like how a concrete foundation is a base for the tallest skyscraper, a well-established impression and relationship with the modeling agency plays a pivotal role in whether you make it or break it.

Create Talents Review by a Male Model YH S

In this Create Talents and Models review we look at our fit and muscular hunk, 28-year-old male model S Yang Heng, known by screen name YH S. His testimonial was conducted in the company studio as well some outdoor shoot to add some fun element. His current status as a part-time student studying at RMIT, hobbies of exercising and traveling will come to you as no surprise when you look at his well-toned body, modelesque features and some insightful advices on modeling. Anyone interested in modeling has to listen to what he says!

YH S was approached by the scouters from Create Talents and Models as he was walking along Orchard Road one night at Somerset 313. The scouter gave him a name card and asked him if he was interested in modeling. He agreed came down for an interview the next day, and joined the firm subsequently.

When asked about an exciting experience he had, he mentioned that there was one time where he had to pair up with a girl whom he did not know at all, and the staff in-charge of the project were from Hong Kong. He found that fun and that the people were nice. He had to pretend to be a couple with the girl, so he had a challenge of ‘breaking the ice’ quickly. It was important as it made the photo look realistic and made it look like they were really in love and were a couple. It took them both a few tries, but male model believes it was executed well in the end, and everyone was happy and pleased.

Yan Heng’s favorite project was the Maggi Mee Hokkien Char Mee television advertisement. It was filmed during the seventh month of the Hungry Ghost Festival, in the middle of nowhere, and at night where it was pitch black and the crew had to use their own lamps and lights. He remarks that the staffs were really spontaneous, encouraging, and their sense of humor and jokes kept everyone comfortable and going. He liked working with one of his co-actors, named Ian G, who also happened to a model from Create Talents and it was very fun. The whole shoot took about eight hours but to him it felt like only a few minutes had passed.

Model also had good advice to give on what a model requires to succeed. He had two main points, the first being confidence, and the second is being adaptable. Confidence, as Yang Heng mentions, is when you have to portray yourself in the image of what the photographer wants, and that’s where patience comes in as well. Different people have different expectations, so a model would also have to adapt quick to what is required on the spot, and not just stick with the image you have in mind.

Embracing uncertainty is also another notable characteristic of YH S who mentions he likes the feeling of not knowing what’s coming next in life. He likes seeing the different job opportunities he receives when he opens up the messages from Create Talents. It’s a very different experience every time and he likes to be able to prepare his best with the limited time given to him. He believes working as such is more fulfilling and exciting rather than something that is monotonous and boring.

When speaking on why he likes working with Create Talents, Yang Heng says that the agency has opened a lot of doors for him. He has been to quite a number of model castings, and each one is different from the next. So each one is also an experience and all of them have been fun. He looks forward to learning more with our agency.

So is modeling just about looks? Yang Heng doesn’t think so. He says it surely takes personality and spontaneity. He advises aspiring models to take a leap of faith because you never know what’s going to happen and you never know what opportunities will come. If you take the leap of faith and gain the experience, you might even be acting or shooting with Yang Heng next time, which he is really looking forward to!

Teen Model Portfolio Requirements and Guidelines

Modeling agencies Singapore has an important role in creating a good portfolio for aspiring teenage models to stand a credible chance amidst the high competition.

Teenage years are filled with vigor and beauty, and are the golden years for potential models to step foot into the industry. However, it is precisely because of the fact that many teenagers have much time and beauty to be capable models; the competition they face in the modeling industry becomes very high.

1.    Know your style

There are a numerous modeling styles; research on your preferred modeling style and design your portfolio accordingly. For example, runway modeling is strict on height requirements (above 170cm for most models); one way is to take shots that make you look taller, for example, a bottom-to-up angle has the potential to make you look taller. Whereas an editorial style would require you to have a striking front body shot with a slender figure, which thus requires good technique in posing. For some unique types of modeling like body parts modeling, you must, of course, include a well-taken photograph of the part of the body you want to model for.

2.    Show your versatility in modeling style

You need to include various shots, the more diverse they are, the better your chances at various kinds of jobs. You would have to minimally show at least one front, one side, one upper body, one full body shot and clear face shot. Be creative and communicate with the photographer for more ideas.

3.    Selling yourself

The purpose of a portfolio is to sell your look and your abilities, not what you are wearing. Fancy patterns, colors, jewelry and accessories will unnecessarily affect your original look and style. Wear simple or solid colored clothing in all your shots, and avoid too much color and pattern distractions. Most of the time, clients are looking for a blank canvass and want to use their imagination to suit you to the style they are envisioning.

4.    Maintain your grooming

You need to upkeep grooming a few days in advance from the actual shoot. The basic to–dos are to shape your nails, keep your hair neat and tidy, get a manicure or pedicure if necessary. On the day of the shoot itself, make sure a make-up artist, who knows the look and style you are going for, is engaged together with the photographer.

5.    Arranging your portfolio

Perhaps the hardest task would be the elimination of hundreds of photos. Remember any client would want to see only your best shots. You have to be able to impress the viewer with the fewest number of shots possible. Keep your portfolio from about 10-15 shots, but never more than 20. Put your best 2 on the front and the next best 2 at the back, so they are amazed from start till the end. Be sure to include a profile page with your key details such as height, weight, and the various important sizes such as chest, bust, waist and shoulder sizes.

Your portfolio is akin to a resume, its relevance depends on how updated your skills and knowledge level are. You have to create a resume that is consistently updated as time goes by. Your portfolio look has to resemble your real-life look as closely as possible.

Work closely with model agencies Singapore, and invest a good amount of time and money in a top of the class portfolio with crystal clear digital photographs. A sub-standard portfolio directly translates to mean a lower end model. If you want to go ahead of the curve and impress as a teenage model, your portfolio is a quintessential tool.

4 Beauty Tips from Singapore Models

Singapore’s weather has been tremendously unpredictable and has that been affecting your skin and beauty? Well, you might have gotten advice from many different people, but let us compile for you the four most essential beauty tips from model Singapore that you must follow this season!

1.    Wear Sunscreen

The face of Neutrogena Singapore and the front line woman of skincare, Aimee Cheng-Bradshaw revealed to Her World Plus, that wearing sunscreen is the most important beauty rule to follow. It is not news to say that cold weather is much better for skincare as it leads to lesser acne breakout and tighter skin. However, with temperatures soaring above 32°C on a normal afternoon it is no easy feat to maintain a smooth healthy skin.

When choosing the best sunscreen brands we should never obsess over the SPF value too much as higher SPF values only give material protection. Instead, we should look out for UVA (wrinkling protection) and UVB (burning and tanning) protection that protects the skin more completely. Key values to identify are the PA value and water resistance capabilities as well.

Some recommended brands above SPF15 (doctor’s recommended levels for UVB protection) and UVA protection that works well with make-up are Neutrogena Clinical Fine Fairness Multi-Protect UV Fluid, Eau Thermale Avène Very High Protection Sun Care, DrGL Sun Protection Mist, Shiseido’s Global Suncare Perfect UV Protector.

2.    Invest in cleansing products

This is a basic yet cardinal rule for all women. The day starts with a clean face and ends with a clean face. Make-up no matter how organic isn’t a natural substance that should be on the face constantly. It is essential to let your skin breathe throughout the night. Even if there is no time or it is inconvenient to wash the face, minimally use cleansing wipes to conveniently do the job quickly and effectively. But you would have to agree that splashing the face with water and scrubbing off the makeup with an oil-based remover is a pretty good feeling. Additionally, if you are interested in further hydrating your face you can apply refiner, essence, and moisture cream in that order. If you sleep with the Aircon, your skin dries faster and moisturizing is more necessary as well. Else, a glass of water with a good night’s sleep ought to do the trick.

3.    You are what you drink

For healthy skin and beauty, especially under the hot weather, the standard eight glasses of water a day are quintessential to a natural skin glow. Additionally, drinking a glass of warm water with a slice of lemon or lemon juice in it is the best way to trigger the liver to start detoxifying. Removing toxins from your body helps regulate the natural bodily processes and work to keep your skin beauty in check.

4.    Oily skin

Perhaps the most common problem, not just for a modelSingapore based, but even for international top models who are younger. Natural oil on the skin actually has a purpose of protecting your skin and anti-ageing properties so it’s not a good idea to keep your skin dry all the time as well. Instead, massage a cleanser or exfoliating gel with glycolic acid to remove dirt and dead cells while hydrating the skin and preventing oil secretion.

These are the top four beauty tips for the season! Stay tuned and like our Instagram page for more of such wonderful information!
